Article of the Month - May 2008Our First eClass: Introduction to Sociology
Sociology is the study of human social life. Human social life is complex and encompasses many facets of the human experience. Because of the complexity, the discipline of sociology subdivided over time into specialty areas. The first section of this book covers the foundations of sociology, including an introduction to the discipline, the methods of study, and some of the dominant theoretical perspectives. The remaining chapters focus on the different areas of study in sociology. Part of the Social Sciences Bookshelf Table of Contents

Elmer Talks: Latest Blog Entries: May 2008While I haven’t updated the blog in the past three months, I have been able to secure other resources and volunteers to help develop Elmer. Listed below are a couple of the latest and greatest Elmer updates.
Pages describing the type of content and guidelines for submission have been initiated. Hopefully they will be done by the end of May. By mid-June we intend to have the first “How To” pages up and running to help contributors and readers alike.
Elmer is currently trying to secure a Mandarin translator for the site to help us with an initial translation of the terms, as opposed to the entire set of articles. This first step will help us expand the use of the dictionary to include more people and help English, Spanish, and French speakers learn the equivalence to terms in Mandarin. If anyone is interested in translating Elmer into another language, please contact us or visit this page.
Give us a hand with our Projects!Elmer needs the help of editors and contributors to provide high quality content. Find out more about Elmer's goals and how you can help us reach them. Here are some projects you can join:
